The Angry Birds Awards

Hey y'all it me veronyca just writing a quick blog post to announce that voting for the AB Awards are now open!!!! Here's what you should know!
Angry Birds Big Adventure (Our fangame) has been nominated for "Most Anticipated Project", "Best Art Direction", and "Best Original Soundtrack" We're only in these three categories because if you haven't noticed the project isn't quite out yet! Anywho, the point of this blog post is to convince you to vote for us for these categories so here's me trying to do just that!
In terms of most anticipated, that's honestly up to you, and it's not something that I'm gonna harp on, so instead I'll talk about art direction!
Best Art Direction
Big Adventure's art direction is a huge part of the mod, it's one of the main reasons why we decided to make the project a fangame instead of a mod! The main gimmick of our art style is the mixed 2.5D aesthetic, 2D Birds pigs and blocks in fully modelled 3D environments. The main reason why we haven't shown many ingame images is because we've spent the last year developing the mod's art style, mainly with the 3D assets. We wanted to wait till we had something more presentable before showing off any gameplay but for the sake of the Angry Birds Awards I've included a small little screenshot of some of our currently existing assets put into the engine. Please note that this image is from the engine's current state which we'd consider very unfinished, the final game will look much better.

Unlike most Angry Birds projects all of our 2D assets and sprites are fully animated frame by frame, our goal with the 2D art was to add a lot of life to the birds and pigs, we wanted to make something really visually stunning and a goal like that adds SO MUCH DEV TIME. Each bird has hours of work put into them because of how detailed each animation can be, hours spent drawing and redrawing and animating and timing. It would've been so much easier to just rig the birds, or only draw static sprites like what other mods do, but compromising on the aesthetic potential of the game is not something we plan on doing. So if any of this really speaks to you, please consider voting Angry Birds Big Adventure for Best Art Direction!
We're also running for Best Original Soundtrack, let's talk about that!
Best Original Soundtrack
Music has always been a super important part of Big Adventure, the team has 5 musicians on board working on songs for different episodes that we have planned in the future! So far we've only released 3 songs from the first episode, we've also posted a teaser for another song in the game. While 3 and a half songs isn't a lot, we're also working on so much more music in the background and the songs we've already released have so much thought, effort, and storytelling put into them.
Without getting into spoilers the instrumentation, motifs, and composition in the songs we've released so far have so much intention and thought put into them, they're not just for setting the mood, they're a storytelling tool. The cobalt songs are up beat and cheery, they have elements of orchestral, hip hop, and rock, but there's also a subtle eeriness to all the songs, a feeling that something's happening in the background, something that you'll only see much later on.
I (ronycommitment) would love to do full breakdowns of the songs in the game but I can't do that till much further in the future once the game's story is finally out there, so instead I ask that y'all take some time to listen to the songs and see if you can spot and infer things in the songs that you think may hold some significance. It'd make me so happy to see people picking up on all the subtle little details that I've sprinkled into the songs.
If you think you need a quick relistening to the songs that are currently out you can find them on YouTube Music, Apple Music and iTunes, Spotify, and Tidal by searching up "veronyca Big Adventure". I could accept losing most anticipated project or best art direction, but the songs we've shown off so far have my whole soul poured into them, so please consider relistening to them and consider voting Angry Birds Big Adventure for Best Original Soundtrack.
Closing Thoughts
I hope what I've written day convinces at least one or two people to vote for us in the Angry Birds Awards, this post's song recommendation is "movies for guys" by Jane Remover, all of Jane Remover's songs are great but this one is up there as one of my favorites!
